There’s something magical about waking up to the sounds of nature instead of an alarm clock. At Nicura Ranch, mornings start early, but there’s no rush—just a steady rhythm of life that follows the sun. A few strokes along their velvety muzzles, and they settle into their stalls enjoying their breakfast and the start of another peaceful day. The goats come next. We usually have to wake them from their slumber. Once awake, the mischief and antics begin and provide entertainment throughout the day.

A farm requires care beyond just feeding its animals. Each morning, stalls are mucked out, fresh water is given, and hay bags are filled. After turnout, stalls are mucked again, bedding is spread, and the barn is swept clean. Daily maintenance around the farm often includes fixing a fence post or two, cutting the pastures to keep the grass healthy, or cutting down tree limbs, if needed.
